10 AT THE CENTER OF UTAH INDUSTRY Joy is leading the way in predictive tools for underground longwall equipment with its extended life testing process, used to evaluate powered roof support structures. Through testing and evaluation at a Joy Global facility, the company can provide customers a full report indicating when components will likely reach the end of their serviceable life, along with a detailed Life Cycle Management plan. This report may also include suggested options or upgrades to further enhance the productivity of the supports. For surface applications, Joy Global has two exciting new P&H machines: the 2650CX hybrid shovel and the 77XD blasthole drill, the latter of which can be configured for rotary or hammer drilling, diesel or electric power, and single- or multi-pass drilling. In addition to offering supreme versatility, the 77XD drill is designed to deliver an up to 10% maintenance and repair cost advantage, and an up to 5% availability advantage. Joy Global equipped the first of this next generation of P&H drills with features to help extend equipment life, reduce costs and improve safety, including: a robust solid boxer style mast construction with a simple rack and pinion pulldown design to reduce maintenance effort while increasing drilling forces; and innovative automatic bit handling and pipe handling functions to improve safety and increase machine utilization. Like the new class of Joy LHDs, the P&H hybrid shovel features the Joy SR Hybrid Drive system, which was transitioned to the design of the 2650CX from P&H Generation 2 wheel loaders. The hybrid shovel combines the availability of industry-leading P&H rope shovels with the mobility and flexibility of a hybrid excavator. Robust structures and the twin handle, rack and pinion crowd system proven on P&H shovels have been leveraged to increase reliability. The hydraulically articulated clamshell bucket allows the machine to dig in low benches and to increase breakout forces throughout the bank. The latest attachments from Montabert continue to advance the industry, as well, such as the new CPA 295, debuted at MINExpo this past fall in Las Vegas. The CPA 295 is a revolutionary excavator- mounted rock drill attachment aimed to match or exceed the production rate of conventional drill rigs. It offers contractors the versatility to drill holes from 2 ½ inches to 4 inches in diameter, and up to 72-feet deep; helping lower costs while increasing application potential. Its diverse application possibilities include: quarry, pipeline, demolition and development projects. Carrying on the proud traditions of their originators, each of Joy Global’s leading brands continues to push the boundaries of what is possible in mining, united by the company’s global service network. In Utah, Joy Global’s state-of- the-art Wellington service center is fully equipped for surface and underground original equipment rebuilds, providing world-class service at a local level.
