22 AT THE CENTER OF UTAH INDUSTRY S avage is an innovative supply chain solutions com- pany, creating value for our customers by moving and managing critical materials and improving operational efficiency. With 3,500 team members in more than 200 operating locations, Savage serves many industries including electric power generation, coal produc- tion, oil and gas, refining, agriculture, chemical, mining and manufacturing. Our services span transportation, asset management and maintenance, and material handling and processing. The company was founded in 1946 with a single truck hauling coal and timber in Utah. The three Savage brothers became known and respected for their integrity, innovation and ability to deliver results. These values remain the foundation of everything we do today. For nearly 70 years, Savage has been moving materials for the mining industry. We serve customer needs across a wide array of mining operations such as coal mining, environ- mental technologies, metals mining, oil and gas, utilities and electric power generation. We handle the mining industry’s dry bulk, liquid bulk and hazardous liquids, providing solutions that include facilities management, logistics, material handling, oil and gas services, technology and transportation. A critical part of serving customers in the mining industry is Savage’s commitment to safety. It’s a well-known saying that “Nothing trumps safety at Savage.” We hire people who value safety, and provide job-specific training as well as specialized safety training to empower team members at all of its opera- tions. In 2011, Savage was named as one of America’s Safest Companies by EHS Today magazine. Savage also received the Utah Safety Council’s Award of Honor in 2014. Today, Savage continues to provide supply chain services to Utah’s producers and electricity providers, focusing on en- ergy sources and minerals produced in this resource-rich state. While our roots are in the Utah coal industry, today’s evolving energy market has created diverse opportunities. We continue to provide transportation services to Utah’s ma- jor coal producers, as well as our state’s primary electricity provider. We also provide full supply chain services, includ- ing excavation, transportation and processing to the state’s only independent power producer that converts coal waste into energy. Additionally, Savage provides supply chain services to industries developing Utah’s gas and oil-rich Uintah Basin, including management and transportation of production water logistics in the upstream sector of the natural gas supply chain, and transportation of Utah’s unique waxy crude to midstream rail transloading sites in both Carbon County and the Salt Lake Valley, as well as directly to the state’s refinery industry. Savage also serves western Utah’s mineral industry, transporting limestone from producers to various consumers in eastern Utah and on Utah’s west desert. “Best value” is a common theme for the services Savage provides throughout a customer’s supply chain. We make sure your products and materials are how you want them, where you want them, when you need them. That is how we are continu- ing the legacy of the Savage brothers, in Utah and beyond.
