2 At the Center of Utah Industry At Rio Tinto's Kennecott, we produce elements that are essential for modern life. While doing this, we emit 5.8 percent of the Salt Lake area's annual ne particulates. In the winter, we reduce our emissions to 3.8 percent by shutting down our power plant. We are also working hard to reduce emissions by implementing actions within our operation and within our community. Take a closer look at other actions we're taking to improve air quality at Kennecott.com We've implemented an idle reduction program on over 500 vehicles, reducing our tailpipe emissions. And, we've partnered with 98 organizations to implement idling reduction programs that bene t their businesses. We have 47 compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles and two fueling stations at our operation. And, we’ve partnered with Hale Centre Theatre to install a CNG fueling station at their West Valley location for use by their employees. We incentivize our employees to use mass transit by offering discount passes. And, we've partnered with UTA to bring light rail to thousands of residents living in the southwest part of the valley.
